Primary School Students in SMO (Junior) Top 30

In recent years, the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) Junior competition, which is suitable for Sec/Year 1 & 2 students, has attracted quite a number of primary school students to take part. In 2013 SMO (Junior), out of the 14 primary school students who had made it into the special round, 12 were existing P6 students and 2 were current P5 students. Some of these primary school students had even made it into top 30 of the SMO (Junior), which is no mean feat, considering the competitiveness of the competition!

Dylan Toh - 2017 IMO Silver, 2016 IMO Gold, 2014-2015 IMO Silver, 2013 CWMI Gold

  1. Sheldon Tan profile looks like Zhang Ai Di - excel in Math. and Piano.
Do you know what is Ai Di doing for her undergraduate studies (math or music)?

  3. Thanks for the update. She is really good. (Seriously, do you know if she has a tiger mom at home? I asked this because 'the' Tiger mom's (Amy Chua) daughter, Sophia is also studying at Harvard. Sophia is good at both music and her studies.

When I look at Professor Noam David Elkies's bio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noam_Elkies), I can't help but to link it to our Singapore version of math. genius. Jeck has a perfect Math. Olympiad score just like Prof Noam. I am sure that one day he will fly Singapore flag high as a mathematics professor. Is it NUS or Cambridge for Jeck?

  4. Hi Anselm,
I do not know Aidi's mum well, so can't comment on that. Time will tell if Jeck is going NUS or Cambridge :D Currently he has an offer from NUS only. Thanks for your kind words for him!
