What's the cut off point for bronze this year?
What will 15 get me? The general consensus amongst my classmates is that this year is easier than last years, and last year was 16 for cut off for round 2
I think q8 is 60,
x=35 and y=12.5
X cant be 35 it does not yield 70 for first part
What is the cut off for silver this year?
Just curious what are some of ur scores?
That is the case where x < y. But the solution gives x > y. So you have to reject that solution.
how can q15 be 82
yep got same ans too for y>x
Cos when x is 8 m is 82/9 so 9m is 82
q13 i subbed P(1) which yields 1024 but why must u multiply by half?
15 should be eligible for r2 minimum silver
my guess
HM:6/7
Bronze:11/12
Silver:13/14
Gold:18/19
R2:15
last year was easier imo
hello, newbie here. how does r2 results affect the award received?
Damn made the same mistake
I'm guessing 13
What are top 30 scores?
how is 3028 the max for q20
You use the sequence (1,-2,1,-2,...,-2) giving a sum of -1009. 2019-(-1009)=3028. To my knowledge, this is optimal.
What about the sequence (4,-5,-2,1,...,-2,0)
What will 13 get me?
Nevermind I am careless
hey same i got 13
Is 18/25 a decent score?
I'm quite concerned because quite a lot of people did better than me.
what do u think the r2 cut off will be?
Can 15 get me to the 2nd round
Will I get gold with 5? Most of my friends got 2
Sure
isnt q8 supposed to be 60?
What will a score of 6/25 get me haha
how do q 16
Any nice explanation for q20 my friends and i all guessed
For the final award received, I think r1 and r2 results are added together, so getting a high score in r1 won't guarantee a gold, and getting lower score in r1 can also give you a gold
What can I get with 13
I got 17, carelessly got qn1 wrong hehe, i feel this year's paper easier than 2018's since i only got 12 for that one...
Btw when will rnd 2 name list be released ahhh, uncertainty..
Can 17 secure a silver??
Question 6 is 99997.
@Unknown You can test that; it isn't a factor.
I got 21 for 2018 and 13 for 2019 feels bad
Isnt q21 265 instead of 268?
write numbers like this:
1 4 7 10 13 ...
-2 -5 -8 -11 -14 ...
if x_(n-1) is in the top row, next term is either to its right or below it. if it's in the bottom row, next term is either to its left or above it. this means that each negative number will always have a positive number to pair with, so the max is 2019-(-1)*1009=3028
My guess:
HM: 5-7
Bronze:8-10
Silver:11+
R2: 16
I see, thanks!
The difference between silver and round 2 cant be that much. Most of silver will be for those who went round 2.
not to burst your bubble of hope but a 5 is not GOLD, it is guaranteed SILVER
my take;
hm: 2
bronze: 3
silver: 4
gold: 7
round 2: 4
The Most Honourable Certificate of Participation
My guess:
HM 6-7
Bronze 9-10
Silver 12-14
Round 2 14-15
My guess:
HM 8-9
Bronze 10-12
Silver 13+
Round 2 14
Can someone explain Q18?
Let a = log2(x) and b = log2(log3(y))
Guys mind sharing how much yall got?
I got 15 and I got in.
COP should be lower than last year
I got 14 and I got in lol
Will I get silver with 13
Guys help how much do we need to get in round 2 to get gold?
no. 23...my answer is 1009.
Wrong the answer is 2019
how to do q13
PLS LA not that hard one
hm: 0.2
bronze: 1.25
silver: 3.1415926
gold: 4.333333333
What is the cut off for silver???
Definitely 12 based on previous years where cut off for silver is 2 marks less than round 2 cutoff
Why I even thought 2009-2011 was easy
I could answer 16 for 2011 but only 13 for this year
Why does the answer q13 is 512?
got 20 but didn't get R2... strange this yr has high cutoff.
For Q13, you substitute x=1 to get P(1)=1024, and P(1) is the sum of all the coefficients (both the even and the odd powers of x). Then you substitute P(-1) and get 0, and P(-1) is the sum of the even powers of x coefficients - the sum of the odd powers of x coefficients, since (-1)^even power = 1 and (-1)^odd power = -1. So the sum of the even powers coefficients - the sum of the odd powers coefficients = 0 and the sum of the even powers coefficients + the sum of the odd powers coefficients = 1024. Solving these simultaneously gives the sum of the odd powers coefficients and the sum of the even powers coefficients are both equal to 512, and the answer is the sum of the odd powers coefficients, i.e. 512.
Can upload round 2 questions?
Thoughts on this year paper? Felt q1 (geometry problem) was manageable, q2 idk what it was about, q3 was fairly easy but i am not sure if i proved fully, q4 was a scam, q5 was quite easy( ans is multiple of 2)?
when will the final result be released anybody knows tks
Probably end of July just like last year
im back wins gold hehe
Did result come out?
Yes results are out to schools
How to get 32 for q6?
I DO NOT BELIEVE Q15 IS 50 i could just take 99+97 and leave it there and it will be done with.
Try expressing it as ax²+bx+c+d/(x+8)
